Ahead of the 2027 general elections, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for Akure North and South Federal Constituency, Barr. Balarabe Abiodun Akinwumi, has vowed to prioritize job creation, poverty alleviation and road rehabilitation among others, if elected.

Balarabe, who spoke on Monday during a media parley at the Bala Secretariat, Oba Adesida Road, Akure, said those challenges remain the most pressing burden facing residents of the constituency.

According to him, his legislative agenda will be deliberately focused on reversing unemployment, economic hardship and infrastructural decay.

"I have seen firsthand how our youths roam the streets without jobs, how our mothers struggle under crushing economic hardship, and how our roads have become death traps. This must change, and it will be the centre of my representation," he said.

On party loyalty, the Reps hopeful was emphatic that he would not defect if elected, declaring that the ADC remains his political home.

"I am ADC and I will remain in ADC. I have no intention of abandoning the platform that gave me the opportunity to serve. My loyalty is not for sale," he declared.

When asked if he had faced intimidation from the ruling party, Balarabe said he was not under any pressure and remains focused on his message of hope.

The highlight of the parley was the unveiling of his development blueprint, tagged ‘The Akure Balanced Diet’ a seven pillar agenda for balanced growth.

The pillars, he explained, are: Human Capital Development; Economic Growth and Employment Generation; Quality Representation; Good Governance and Infrastructure Development; Security and Public Safety; Youth and Women Empowerment & Social Inclusion; and Innovation, Investment and Future Economy.

He noted that the blueprint was designed not for selective development, but for an inclusive prosperity that leaves no community in Akure North and South behind.

"Akure deserves more than representation; it deserves results. The Balanced Diet is about feeding every sector that makes a constituency thrive," he added.

Also in attendance at the media parley, were Hon Aare Oluwarotimi Abiodun ADC House of Assembly Candidate, Akure South Constituency 1 and Engr. Temiloluwa Oluwalade ETO, ADC House of Assembly Candidate, Akure North.
