BREAKING: Armed Thugs Attack, Abduct AAC Presidential Candidate Omoyele Sowore In Ekiti - Eatery Vandalised

The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, has allegedly been attacked and abducted by suspected political thugs in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
Sowore himself raised the alarm on Friday, October 30, 2026, through a series of posts on his official Facebook page, disclosing that the attack happened inside a restaurant in the state capital.
In his first post, the activist wrote: "Thugs just attacked us inside a restaurant in Ado Ekiti."
Minutes later, another post on his page read: "Armed thugs kidnap Sowore. His current location is unknown!"
According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred at about 1pm while Sowore and members of his team were in Ekiti for political engagements. The attackers were said to have stormed the eatery, vandalised the facility and whisked the AAC candidate away.
The African Action Congress has also raised the alarm. In a statement signed by Abdulkareem Musa, spokesperson for the Sowore/Magashi Presidential Campaign, the party described the development as a serious security concern, saying the whereabouts of its 2027 presidential candidate remain unknown.
The campaign has called on the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), INEC and other security agencies to investigate without delay and ensure Sowore's safety.
As of the time of filing this report, the Ekiti State Police Command is yet to confirm the incident. Efforts to get official reaction were unsuccessful.
The alleged attack comes amid heightened political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, and a day after Governor Biodun Oyebanji charged APC members to secure 80 percent support for President Bola Tinubu in the state.
