……….ADC House of Representatives Candidate Salutes Akure Heritage, Calls for Unity, Collective Progress

Barrister Balarabe Abiodun Akinwumi, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Candidate for the Akure North/Akure South Federal Constituency in the forthcoming House of Representatives election, has extended warm felicitations to His Imperial Majesty, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, CFR, the Deji and Paramount Ruler of Akure Kingdom, and the entire Akure people on the occasion of this year’s Ulefúnta Festival.
In a message marking the annual traditional celebration, Barr. Akinwumi described Ulefúnta as a profound expression of the enduring identity, history and cultural heritage of Akure, noting that the festival represents more than an annual observance, it is a reminder of the bonds that unite the people across generations and geographical boundaries.
He paid glowing tribute to the Deji of Akure Kingdom for his role in sustaining the dignity of the traditional institution and providing leadership in the preservation of the customs, values and heritage of the ancient kingdom.
According to him, the strength of Akure lies not only in its rich history, but also in the ability of its people to draw inspiration from that history to build a more united, prosperous and forward looking society.
“Ulefúnta reminds us that a people who understand where they come from are better positioned to determine where they are going. Our heritage is our foundation, but our collective vision must be the force that propels Akure into an even greater future.”
The ADC candidate urged Akure sons and daughters, particularly the younger generation, to embrace their cultural heritage and see its preservation as a collective responsibility.
He also called for greater unity among the people, stressing that the peace and development of Akure require the contribution of everyone, traditional institutions, government, professionals, business leaders, youths, women and the Akure community in the diaspora.
Barr. Akinwumi further emphasized the importance of transforming Akure’s rich human and cultural capital into tangible opportunities for its people, particularly through quality representation, economic empowerment, infrastructure, education and sustainable development.
“Our culture gives us identity; our unity gives us strength; and purposeful representation must give our people the opportunity to translate that strength into progress. Akure deserves a future that matches the greatness of its heritage.”
He prayed for continued wisdom, strength, good health and divine guidance for His Imperial Majesty, while wishing the monarch a peaceful and prosperous reign.
Barr. Akinwumi also prayed for continued peace within Akure Kingdom and for the festival to bring renewed hope, goodwill and stronger bonds among the people.
He extended his heartfelt greetings to all Akure sons and daughters at home and in the diaspora, encouraging them to use the occasion of Ulefúnta to reconnect with their roots, celebrate their shared identity and renew their commitment to the advancement of the Kingdom.
As Akure celebrates its heritage, the ADC candidate reaffirmed his respect for the traditional institution and his commitment to a future where the rich legacy of the Kingdom is preserved while its people enjoy greater opportunities, stronger representation and meaningful development.
