……..Lion of Bourdillon Waves LBW, describes birthday colloquium as a defining moment for intergenerational dialogue, national responsibility and Nigeria’s future

The Lion of Bourdillon Waves (LBW), a sociopolitical group, has commended Mr. Seyi Tinubu for delivering a message of responsibility, participation and generational consciousness at the inaugural Seyi Tinubu Colloquium, held on October 12, 2026, at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, ahead of his 41st birthday.
Held under the theme “Shaping the Future Together,” the colloquium provided a platform for conversations on leadership, economic reforms, enterprise, innovation and the imperative of bringing younger Nigerians into the process of national development.
For LBW, however, one of the most consequential messages from the gathering was Seyi Tinubu’s direct charge to young Nigerians to move beyond the desire for political access and embrace the responsibility that comes with participation in governance.
“A seat in the room carries obligation. Read the documents, know the history, understand the choices, ask the difficult questions,” Seyi declared.
The Lion of Bourdillon Waves considers this a defining message for a generation whose future will be shaped by the decisions made today.
It is a call for young Nigerians to understand that leadership is not merely about occupying positions, enjoying proximity to power or demanding representation. It is about acquiring knowledge, developing competence, asking necessary questions and contributing meaningfully to decisions that affect millions of lives.
For a country with Nigeria’s youthful population, this message carries profound national significance. The future cannot be shaped by young people who remain spectators to the decisions that determine their economic prospects, educational opportunities, political participation and national security.
Neither can sustainable progress be achieved by excluding emerging leaders from consequential conversations.
LBW therefore sees the colloquium as an important platform for advancing intergenerational collaboration: a meeting point where the experience of established leaders can complement the creativity, energy, innovation and ambition of younger Nigerians.
The group also notes Seyi Tinubu’s defence of the economic reform direction of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly the removal of the petrol subsidy, foreign exchange reforms and changes to the taxation system.
In addressing these policies, Seyi acknowledged the hardship experienced by Nigerian households while arguing that the decisions were intended to influence how the country earns, spends and creates opportunities for future generations.
His recognition that the immediate pain of economic change can be more visible than its anticipated long term benefits introduces an important dimension to the national conversation: the need to evaluate reforms not only by their stated intentions but also by their tangible outcomes for ordinary Nigerians.
For LBW, the ultimate test of any reform agenda must be its capacity to expand opportunity, strengthen institutions, stimulate productive enterprise and improve the quality of life of the people.
The group believes that young Nigerians have a critical role to play in this process, not merely as beneficiaries of government policies, but as entrepreneurs, professionals, innovators, community organisers and informed participants in democratic governance.
Seyi’s declaration that young Nigerians must participate in shaping the country’s future reinforces the principle that nation building is a shared responsibility.
In a statement issued by the national leadership of the Lion of Bourdillon Waves, National Convener, Engr. Daniel Oke, described the message as an important reminder that the future of Nigeria requires both courageous leadership and prepared citizens.
According to Oke, the significance of Seyi Tinubu’s address lies in its emphasis on the responsibility that accompanies opportunity.
“The message is clear: the younger generation must not wait indefinitely for the future to be handed to it. It must prepare for leadership, understand the issues confronting the nation and participate constructively in the decisions that will determine the Nigeria we leave for generations yet unborn.
“Political access without competence is insufficient. Representation without responsibility is incomplete. And ambition without preparation cannot deliver the transformation our country deserves.
“We must build a generation that is informed, courageous, productive and prepared to contribute to national development.”
Oke added that the colloquium’s emphasis on collaboration between generations underscores the importance of creating opportunities for young Nigerians to learn from experience while contributing fresh ideas to governance, business, technology and public service.
He maintained that the future of Nigeria would be better secured when experience and youthful ambition work together, rather than compete for relevance.
As Seyi Tinubu marks his 41st birthday, LBW believes that the most enduring value of the colloquium lies in the conversations it has initiated about the responsibilities of leadership and the place of young people in shaping Nigeria’s future.
The group celebrates him for using the occasion to advance a conversation that extends beyond personal milestones to questions of national development, intergenerational responsibility and the preparation of future leaders.
LBW also calls on young Nigerians to embrace the challenge of informed participation: to study public policy, develop professional competence, pursue enterprise, engage constructively with government and hold leadership to the standard of measurable results.
The organisation maintains that building a prosperous Nigeria requires more than political enthusiasm. It requires sound ideas, credible institutions, productive citizens and a collective determination to turn national potential into tangible progress.
As an organisation committed to progressive leadership and grassroots mobilisation, the Lion of Bourdillon Waves reaffirms its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda and calls for sustained collaboration among government, the private sector, civil society and young Nigerians to translate national ambitions into opportunities that reach communities across the country.
At 41, the message from Seyi Tinubu’s colloquium is bigger than a birthday: the future must be shaped through knowledge, responsibility, participation and purposeful leadership.
Nigeria’s younger generation must be prepared not only to occupy the room where decisions are made, but also to contribute the ideas, integrity and competence required to make those decisions count.
Happy 41st birthday to Mr. Seyi Tinubu.
May the conversations inspired by the colloquium translate into stronger opportunities for young Nigerians and meaningful progress for our nation.
