Congratulations to the newly appointed SSAs and SAs in the administration of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
Today, you have every reason to celebrate. But beyond the excitement, photographs and congratulatory messages is a simple truth: your appointment is not just a call to service, it is a test of loyalty, character and trust.
Some of you were once critics of this government. You questioned its policies and argued that certain things could be done better.
Now, you have been given an opportunity to move from the sidelines into the arena.
This is your chance to prove that your criticism was about improving government, not merely seeking relevance.
If you believe something is not working, don’t destroy it, help fix it.
If you believe a community is being neglected, don’t just complain, take its case to the Governor.
If you believe a policy can be improved, don’t leak it to the public, offer a better solution through the appropriate channel.
That is what responsible service looks like.
Your new position will give you access to information that ordinary citizens do not have. That access comes with responsibility.
Not every government discussion should become social-media content. Not every private meeting should become gossip. Not every disagreement should be leaked to political associates.
The government’s nuclear codes must remain protected.
Confidentiality is not optional for a trusted aide. Once you accept the appointment, you become part of the machinery of government, and deliberately exposing sensitive information can damage the very administration you were appointed to support.
Loyalty does not mean pretending that government is perfect. It means being truthful, constructive and dependable while remaining committed to the success of the administration
Many people believe Governor Aiyedatiwa’s journey to the leadership of Ondo State is part of a divine plan ordained by Almighty God.
If you believe that, then your appointment should inspire greater responsibility.
Do not become a weakness in a government you believe God has positioned for this season.
Become a strength.
Serve with humility. Protect the administration. Bring solutions. Respect the people. And never allow temporary political excitement to make you forget that political appointments do not last forever.
People are watching.
Your supporters are watching.
Your critics are watching.
Those who wanted your position are watching.
And posterity will judge.
So, celebrate your appointment, but remember that the real work begins now.
When the title eventually disappears, what should remain is your record.
May people remember you as the aide who was loyal without being sycophantic, courageous without being reckless, discreet without being dishonest, and committed to the people above personal ambition.
Governor Aiyedatiwa has given you the opportunity.
Now give the administration your best.
The appointment carries your name. Your conduct will determine its legacy.
