AIYEDATIWA HAS TURNED UNIMEDTH INTO HEALTHCARE SHOWPIECE — LADY OLUBUNMI OLUMIDE ADEKUNLE

The transformation taking place at the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital (UNIMEDTH), Ondo, has continued to attract commendations, with the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Ondo State, Lady Olubunmi Olumide Adekunle, describing the Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa administration’s investment in the hospital as remarkable.

Lady Olubunmi made the commendation after a private visit to UNIMEDTH, where she inspected some of the facilities and interacted with members of staff.
She said what she saw at the teaching hospital was evidence of a deliberate effort by Governor Aiyedatiwa to strengthen healthcare delivery and provide residents with access to modern medical services.

“The transformation i saw at UNIMEDTH is remarkable. Governor Aiyedatiwa has demonstrated that quality healthcare for our people is not negotiable,” she said.

She particularly highlighted the acquisition of advanced medical equipment, including what she described as the first Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine acquired by the Ondo State Government since the creation of the state in 1976.
According to her, the hospital has also received a 1.5 Tesla MRI scanner, 160-slice CT scanner, 3D digital mammography system, 4D ultrasound and digital X-ray equipment.

Lady Olubunmi also commended the approval of a 240kW solar power installation aimed at providing reliable electricity for the hospital’s operations.
Beyond medical equipment, she pointed to ongoing infrastructural investments, including the N1 billion Senate Building project at the University of Medical Sciences, with N500 million already released as the first tranche, as well as N250 million counterpart funding for the Olu Akinkugbe Faculty of Pharmacy.

She further praised the implementation of enhanced Professional Table Allowance and Specialist Allowance under CONMESS and CONHESS, saying the measures had improved staff morale and helped attract consultants and specialists to the institution.

For Lady Olubunmi, the intervention goes beyond purchasing equipment.
“From modern equipment to staff welfare and infrastructure, this is a holistic investment. Our people no longer need to travel far for advanced medical investigations. Governor Aiyedatiwa is truly building a health sector that works for all,” she added.

She said the administration’s emphasis on healthcare, road infrastructure and youth empowerment reflected what she described as a people-centred approach to governance, with tangible projects and interventions being delivered across the state.
