As Nigeria marks another Democracy Day, Akoni. Nelson Akinsuroju, Member representing Ileoluji/Okeigbo Constituency in the Ondo State House of Assembly, has paid glowing tribute to the heroes and heroines of the historic June 12.

In a statement issued from his constituency office in Ileoluji, Akoni honoured the sacrifices, courage, and resilience of Nigerians who fought for the restoration of democracy. He paid special homage to Chief Moshood Kashimawo Abiola, GCFR, the winner of the annulled election, whose struggle became the defining symbol of Nigeria’s democratic journey.
“I congratulate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on this Democracy Day. His resilience, sacrifice, and leadership during the fight against military rule, and now through the Renewed Hope Agenda, show what commitment to democracy looks like.
Reflecting on 27 years of unbroken democracy, Akoni said Nigeria has made progress despite challenges, and urged his constituents to remain engaged in governance.

“To the good people of Ileoluji/Okeigbo: May the labour of our heroes past never be in vain. Let us protect democratic values, participate actively, and work together for peace, unity and development in our constituency and Nigeria at large,” he said.
Akoni congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR and Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa on the occasion, while reaffirming his commitment to grassroots representation and people centered legislation.
He called on his constituents and all Nigerians to remember the sacrifices of the past and remain committed to building a peaceful, secure, united and prosperous nation.
