A socio-political organisation known as One Voice Network for Tinubu has called on the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State and at the national level to halt what it described as attempts to impose candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections, warning that such actions could destabilise the party and trigger protest votes.

In a press statement signed by its spokesperson, Chief Ige Jongbo, a veteran broadcaster and public affairs commentator, the group expressed concern over what it called a “purportedly compiled list of anointed candidates” allegedly being circulated without adequate consultation with party stakeholders at all levels.
The organisation warned that failure to adopt an inclusive and transparent process in selecting candidates could deepen internal divisions within the APC, weaken electoral strength, and alienate grassroots supporters across Ondo State.
It further cautioned that political imposition, if not properly managed, may “jeopardize the electoral prospects of the party” and provoke resentment among members who feel sidelined in the decision making process.
According to the group, democracy within political parties must be anchored on fairness, transparency, and broad-based consultation, stressing that the allocation of elective positions should not be reduced to political patronage or backroom deals.
“It is dangerous to run a democratic system with military-style tactics. Such an approach will weaken internal loyalty, suppress democratic growth, and dampen the morale of voters who are eager to sustain development under the Renewed Hope Agenda,” the statement read.
The group urged both state and national leadership of the APC to urgently intervene and prevent internal grievances that could lead to protest votes in favour of opposition parties during the elections.
Beyond its concerns, the organisation threw its weight behind Dr. Olumuyiwa Adu, popularly known as “Cubana,” urging the party to consider him as the APC candidate for the Ondo Central Senatorial District.
It described Adu as a grassroots politician with strong community appeal, adding that he has contributed significantly to party mobilisation through personal resources and philanthropy.
According to the group, Adu enjoys widespread acceptance among artisans, students, traders, market women, community leaders, and other stakeholders across the senatorial district.
It also claimed that he possesses the experience, emotional intelligence, and leadership capacity required to deliver electoral victory for the APC at the polls.
“Barrister Olumuyiwa Adu has demonstrated uncommon commitment to the growth of the party and has earned the trust of the people through his consistent engagement and empowerment initiatives,” the statement added.
The group further advised the APC leadership to ensure that all aspirants are subjected to strict scrutiny and unbiased assessment in line with the provisions of the Electoral Act as amended.
Despite its criticisms, the One Voice Network for Tinubu reaffirmed its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid and pledged to work with other stakeholders to secure victory for all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections, as scheduled by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
