Aiyedatiwa Appoints Segun Odusanya as New Ondo Head of Service

Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has approved the appointment of Chief Segun Odusanya as the new Head of Service of Ondo State, effective June 6, 2026.

The appointment was announced in a statement issued by the state government on Friday. Odusanya succeeds Bayo Philips, who is retiring from the public service after a distinguished career.

Governor Aiyedatiwa expressed appreciation to the outgoing Head of Service for his dedication and contributions to the growth and development of the state, wishing him success in his future endeavours.

The governor also charged the newly appointed Head of Service to deploy his extensive administrative experience and leadership skills towards strengthening the state civil service and advancing the goals of the administration’s OUR EASE development agenda.

Chief Odusanya brings over three decades of experience in public administration to his new role. Born on February 6, 1967, to the family of the late Venerable Emmanuel Odusanya and Mrs. Emmanuel Odusanya, he began his educational journey at St. Peter’s Primary School before proceeding to Gboluji Anglican Grammar School for his secondary education between 1972 and 1983.

He later attended Obafemi Awolowo University, then known as the University of Ife, where he earned a Bachelor of Agriculture degree in 1989. Driven by a passion for continuous learning, he returned to the institution and obtained a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management Studies in 1992.

In 1998, he gained admission into University of Ado-Ekiti, where he obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in 2000.

Distinguished Public Service Career

Odusanya joined the Ondo State Public Service in September 1995 and has served in several strategic ministries, departments and agencies across the state.

His career reached a major milestone in 2019 when he was appointed a Permanent Secretary. Since then, he has served in key government establishments, including the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the Ondo State Civil Service Commission, and the Ministry of Transport.

Before his elevation as Head of Service, he was serving as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. He also currently serves as Chairman of the Forum of Permanent Secretaries in Ondo State, a position through which he has played a significant role in policy coordination and public service administration.

The new Head of Service is a respected member of several professional bodies and holds fellowship status in major institutions. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria, the Chartered Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria and the Chartered Institute of Local Government Administration.

Chief Odusanya is married to Lady Oluwatoyin Odusanya, and the union is blessed with three children.

The appointment is expected to usher in a new phase of administrative leadership in the Ondo State Public Service as the Aiyedatiwa administration continues its efforts to enhance efficiency, accountability and service delivery across government institutions.
