Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has publicly declared support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027 and endorsed the political coalition championed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
The governor also threw his weight behind Kingsley Chinda as his preferred governorship candidate for Rivers State, signalling a significant political shift ahead of the next general election.
Fubara made the declaration on Wednesday during the foundation-laying ceremony of the Rivien Medical Industry project in Rumuosi, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.
A video of the event, which has since circulated widely on social media, captured the governor urging his supporters to align with the “Rainbow Coalition,” a political alliance comprising members of the All Progressives Congress, factions of the Peoples Democratic Party and other groups backing Tinubu.
According to him, peace has returned to Rivers State, making it necessary for his supporters to unite behind the coalition and its candidates.
“We have made peace in the state and I am supporting our Rainbow Coalition. President Bola Tinubu is our president, while O.K. Chinda is the governorship candidate I am supporting. Anyone who believes in me should support every candidate under the Rainbow Coalition. There is nothing left to negotiate because I have returned to my political family. Wherever you are, give your full support to the coalition,” Fubara said.
The governor’s endorsement comes months after he withdrew from the APC governorship primary in May 2026, saying the decision followed extensive consultations and careful personal reflection.
The latest development is expected to reshape Rivers State’s political landscape as parties begin positioning for the 2027 elections.
