Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, on Monday morning, signed the 2026 Appropriation Bill into law, with a total sum of ₦892,085,074,480.79. The newly signed budget, tagged the “Budget of Economic Expansion,” reflects the administration’s strategic shift from consumption to production.

Commending the Oyo State House of Assembly, Governor Makinde praised lawmakers for their swift passage of the bill, which will allow for immediate implementation from January 1, 2026.
“This is the last full year budget of our administration,” the Governor noted. “We have taken deliberate steps to deemphasise consumption and prioritise productivity. Our goal is to expand the state’s economy and reduce reliance on FAAC.”
The 2026 budget is expected to focus heavily on capital projects, job creation, infrastructure, and investment in sectors that stimulate sustainable economic growth.
With this move, Oyo State continues on its path to becoming a self reliant, productive economy with long term benefits for its citizens.
