Ondo Approves ₦50m Grant for Women Empowerment

The Ondo State government has approved a ₦50 million empowerment grant for women to commemorate the 2026 International Women’s Day celebration in Ondo State.

The governor while addressing a large gathering at the event in Akure, the state capital explained that
₦40 million of the fund was earmarked for direct financial empowerment of women, while ₦10 million was for the O’Datiwa Women Cooperative Multipurpose Society.

Governor Aiyedatiwa said the initiative was aimed at tackling poverty and enhancing women’s participation in economic activities across the state.

Speaking on the theme of the celebration, “Give to Gain,” the governor affirmed his administration commitment to supporting women at all levels, including in politics.

In a remark, the Wife of the Governor, Mrs Seun Aiyedatiwa also announced a financial empowerment grant for 1,200 women across the state.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs , Dr Seun Osamaye, said the state sustained deliberate efforts to expand opportunities for women and deepen inclusion across various sectors.

High point of the event was the presentation of awards to notable individuals, including former Head of Service, Mrs Kosemani Kolawole, and the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, among others.
