Old Video, New Mischief: Austin Pelemo Counters Critics, Reaffirms Unwavering Support for Governor Aiyedatiwa

Engineer Austin Pelemo, an Apc party chieftain, has dismissed attempts by political opponents to exploit an old video for propaganda, describing the renewed circulation of the footage as a desperate effort to create a false political narrative.

Pelemo made the clarification while reacting to a Facebook video posted by one Bode Obanla, explaining that the meeting captured in the footage took place in March 2025 at his Abuja office and had no connection with the political interpretation now being attached to it.

According to him, the meeting was attended by Barrister Ajisafe and Sikiru, popularly known as “Gbongbo,” both from Ikare Akoko.

He said their discussion focused on the appointment of Bunmi Tunji-Ojo as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, an achievement they regarded as a source of pride for Akoko people.

Pelemo maintained that celebrating the success of a fellow Akoko son was natural and should not be interpreted as political disloyalty or an attack on any individual.

“It is only fair that we celebrate those whom God has lifted from our community. That was the spirit of our discussion, and nothing more,” he stated.

He accused those circulating the old video of deliberately twisting its original context in an attempt to score cheap political points, insisting that facts cannot be manipulated to suit partisan interests.

Pelemo further stated that he remains fulfilled and grateful for God’s blessings in his life and therefore has no reason to seek relevance through falsehood or political intrigue.

In the same statement, he reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the administration of Lucky Aiyedatiwa, describing the governor as a leader with a divine mandate to move Ondo State to greater heights.

He declared that he would continue to support Governor Aiyedatiwa’s developmental agenda and stand firmly behind every genuine effort aimed at improving the lives of the people of Ondo State.

Pelemo also stressed that he would never associate himself with individuals who derive satisfaction from attacking or undermining leaders whom God has entrusted with authority.

He concluded by declaring that his political convictions remain firm and are guided by principle rather than the pressure of political propaganda, emphasizing that his loyalty to Governor Aiyedatiwa and the progressive cause in Ondo State remains steadfast.

The statement is widely seen as a decisive response to the controversy surrounding the resurfaced video and a strong reaffirmation of Pelemo’s continued support for the Aiyedatiwa administration.
