Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has suspended his appointee, Mr. Dayo Ibijowo, also known as Ijaya, following his arrest by the Rapid Response Squad, RRS.

Ibijowo was among 11 suspected armed thugs arrested in Ikun-Ekiti and paraded by police on Friday. According to police, the group was allegedly hired by a serving member of the House of Representatives to disrupt the All Progressives Congress, APC, House of Representatives primary scheduled for Saturday.
In a statement issued by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Yinka Oyebode, the suspension takes immediate effect and will remain in place pending the outcome of investigations into the case.
The governor’s office said the action underscores the BAO administration’s zero tolerance for lawlessness and criminality. Governor Oyebanji had just concluded a violence-free campaign tour of the state’s 16 local government areas on Wednesday, where he repeatedly called for peaceful conduct during the election period.
Reiterating his appeal for calm, Oyebanji said no act of criminality would be tolerated before, during, or after the elections.
