Don’t Gamble With Ondo Central Seat, Major Dee Urges APC, Backs Adegbonmire for Second Term

A former House of Assembly aspirant in Akure, Hon. Adewole Ayodeji, popularly known as Major Dee, has warned the All Progressives Congress against imposing what he termed an “unknown candidate” for the Ondo Central Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Major Dee urged the leadership of the ruling party at both the state and national levels to avoid political experiments capable of destabilising the APC’s structure in Ondo Central, insisting that experience and proven performance should guide the party’s decision.

Speaking on the growing conversations surrounding the senatorial ticket, the APC chieftain stressed that the party must not sacrifice competence and legislative experience for political arrangements or favoritism.

According to him, the Ondo Central seat is too strategic for the APC to hand over to individuals without political relevance, grassroots acceptance, or understanding of legislative responsibilities.

He maintained that the party should instead consolidate on tested and experienced hands who have already demonstrated capacity in governance and constituency representation.

Major Dee specifically endorsed the incumbent senator representing Ondo Central, Senator Adeniyi Adegbonmire, describing him as the most qualified among all aspirants seeking the ticket.

He praised the senator for what he called quality representation, intellectual depth, and continuous empowerment programmes across communities within the senatorial district.

The former assembly aspirant noted that Adegbonmire has remained accessible to constituents and has consistently delivered democratic dividends through people-oriented initiatives.

“Senator Adegbonmire has the experience, the legislative knowledge, and the connection with the people. He has empowered many across the constituency and remains the best option for the APC,” Major Dee stated.

He further warned that imposing unfamiliar faces on party members could create unnecessary internal crisis and weaken the APC’s electoral chances in the district.

Major Dee also appealed to party leaders, elders, and critical stakeholders across the Ondo Central Senatorial District to rise above personal interests and rally behind Senator Adegbonmire’s second-term bid, insisting that continuity, stability, and rewarding performance remain essential for the progress and electoral strength of the APC in the district. He stressed that supporting a tested and performing lawmaker would preserve unity within the party and enhance the chances of sustaining effective representation at the National Assembly.

Major Dee therefore appealed to party leaders to ensure a transparent and democratic process that would reflect the wishes of party members and the electorate.

He added that rewarding performance and loyalty would strengthen unity within the APC and position the party for victory in the 2027 elections.
