The Ondo State Government has renewed its commitment to protecting the health and comfort of residents as it intensifies efforts to resolve the offensive odour disturbing some parts of Akure, the state capital.
The unusual smell, which residents said has persisted for some weeks, has become noticeable mostly during the early hours of the morning, causing concern among people living in some communities within the metropolis.
Residents who spoke with PalacePulse News expressed relief that government authorities have responded to their concerns, while appealing for a quick resolution to enable them enjoy a cleaner and healthier environment.
In a swift response to the development, the Ondo State Government has commenced a detailed investigation aimed at uncovering the source of the odour and putting an end to the discomfort being experienced by residents.
Speaking with PalacePulse News, the Chairman of the Ondo State Waste Management Board, Hon. Yinka Alabi, assured residents that the government was fully in control of the situation and working tirelessly to resolve the matter.
She disclosed that environmental experts have been deployed to affected areas to carry out technical assessments, trace the origin of the smell and develop an effective solution.
According to her, the government understands the concerns of residents and is treating the matter with the seriousness it deserves.
“The government has swung into action, and we are on top of the situation. Experts have been deployed to detect the source of the odour and find a quick way out. We appeal for the patience and understanding of our people as we work towards a permanent solution,” she said.
Hon. Alabi stressed that the health and safety of residents remain a top priority of the administration, assuring that no effort would be spared in ensuring that the environment remains safe for everyone.
She added that the government would continue to monitor the situation closely and take further steps based on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
With the commitment of the government and the deployment of technical experts, residents are optimistic that the mystery behind the offensive odour will soon be uncovered and normalcy restored across affected parts of Akure.
