AI-Smear Tactics Exposed: Adu Cubana Dismisses Viral Eatery Photo as Political Fabrication

A senatorial hopeful in Ondo central senatorial zone, Hon. Olumuyiwa Adu, popularly known as Adu Cubana, has strongly refuted claims circulating in an online publication alleging that he was recently seen in a compromising outing with a woman at a local eatery.

In a swift response issued through his media aide, Adu described the widely circulated image as “entirely fabricated” and the handiwork of political opponents threatened by his growing influence and popularity among constituents.

According to the statement, the controversial image was generated using artificial intelligence tools, with the intent to mislead the public and tarnish his reputation ahead of the upcoming elections.

“This is nothing but a desperate attempt to distract from the real issues,” the statement read. “The image in question is AI-generated and does not reflect reality.
Hon. Adu has never met the woman depicted in the photograph.”

Adu further challenged those behind the publication to verify their claims by contacting the woman featured in the image to establish the truth.

He maintained that such basic investigative steps were ignored in favor of sensationalism.

The senatorial hopeful also used the opportunity to call for a shift in the tone of political discourse, urging fellow politicians to embrace issue based campaigns rather than resorting to smear tactics.

“Nigerians deserve campaigns centered on ideas, policies, and solutions—not baseless attacks and character assassination,” he stated.

He did not hold back in addressing the role of the media, cautioning journalists and online platforms against publishing unverified content.

Adu emphasized the importance of due diligence, especially in an era where digital manipulation can easily distort facts.

“Journalists must uphold the ethics of their profession by conducting thorough investigations before going to press.

The spread of misinformation not only harms individuals but undermines public trust in the media,” he added.

Observers note that the incident underscores the increasing use of AI technology in political propaganda, raising concerns about the potential impact on electoral integrity.

Despite the controversy, Adu Cubana reaffirmed his commitment to his campaign and his focus on delivering meaningful representation, stating that he would not be distracted by what he termed “cheap political antics.”
