Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has moved closer to equalling Rashidi Yekini’s all-time goalscoring record for Nigeria after netting a brace in the team’s emphatic 4-0 victory over Mozambique in their 2025 AFCON Round-of-16 clash.

The match, played at the Complexe Sportif de Fès in Morocco, saw the Super Eagles dominate from start to finish, with goals from Ademola Lookman, Akor Adams, and Osimhen sealing the win and a place in the quarter-finals.
Osimhen’s two goals take his international tally to 34, just three short of Yekini’s legendary record of 37 goals for Nigeria.
The Galatasary forward was a constant threat throughout the game, combining his pace, strength, and clinical finishing to punish the Mozambican defence.
His performance continues to underline his status as Nigeria’s leading striker and a key asset in the quest for a fourth AFCON title.
With Nigeria’s confidence high and Osimhen in top form, fans are hopeful he will surpass Yekini’s record before the tournament ends.
