Tensions are brewing within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akure South Local Government Area following allegations that the party chairman, Hon. Fesobi Akinmolayan, diverted part of a N500,000 cash support meant for each of the 11 wards in the council.

The money, reportedly sent by the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, was intended as a holiday palliative to support party members during the festive season.
However, credible party sources allege that only N400,000 was disbursed, while the remaining N100,000 was kept by the chairman.
Anger and frustration have spread among party members and ward executives, who say the disbursed funds were grossly inadequate when shared across the 11 wards.
Many questioned why Akure South, the Ondo state seat of power would receive less than what was expected, despite being a political stronghold.
“It is disheartening,” said one ward chairman who asked not to be named. “Other local governments confirmed they received the full amount from their chairmen.
It is only in Akure South that we are having this issue. This is unfair and could cause division in the party.”
Several APC stakeholders have called on the state party hierarchy and relevant organs to investigate the matter and ensure transparency going forward.
Some also expressed concerns that such actions, if left unchecked, could affect party loyalty and morale as the 2027 election season draws nearer.
As of the time of filing this report, Hon. Akinmolayan has not publicly responded to the allegations. Efforts to reach him for comments were unsuccessful.
