In a major development that has captured national attention, Senator George Akume, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), has officially married Queen Zaynab Ngohemba, the former wife of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.

The announcement was made public on Friday through a celebratory social media post by Abraham Double‑d Dajoh. a member of the Dajoh family, who shared photos and well‑wishes on Facebook as part of the union’s public reveal.
In the statement shared by the family, they described the marriage as a “beautiful and uncommon union” and welcomed Queen Zaynab warmly into the Dajoh family home in Mbakor, Benue State, the ancestral seat of the Tiv nation.
The family also thanked supporters of the SGF and urged continued loyalty to him as he embarks on this new chapter of his personal life.
Contrary to initial speculation that the wedding took place recently — including suggestions it occurred on Christmas Eve in Gboko — the SGF’s spokesperson, Yomi Odunuga, clarified that the marriage had been legally concluded over a year ago, and the couple’s appearance together during a Christmas celebration was unrelated to the marriage ceremony itself.

The union has already stirred widespread public interest due to the high profile of both personalities.
Senator Akume as one of Nigeria’s longest‑serving public officials and a key figure in the Federal Government, and Queen Zaynab as a well‑known former Olori and humanitarian figure.
Senator Akume, a former two‑term governor of Benue State and a veteran politician in national affairs continues to serve prominently in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, making this personal development newsworthy beyond social circles into political discourse.
In addition to welcoming Queen Zaynab into the family, the Dajoh post also extended festive greetings to Nigerians, wishing the public a happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year, reflecting the joyous tone of the announcement.
