24 Years of Broadcasting Excellence: Radio Nigeria Positive 102.5 FM Akure Celebrates a Legacy of Impact

Radio Nigeria Positive 102.5 FM, Akure, is marking its 24th anniversary, celebrating a remarkable journey that began on April 20, 2002, and has since evolved into a compelling story of resilience, professionalism, and public trust.

From its inception, the station was driven by the pioneering efforts of its kick-off team, whose dedication, sacrifice, and commitment laid the solid foundation for its present day success. Their vision helped shape a broadcast institution that has remained steadfast in its mandate to inform, educate, entertain, and inspire the public.

Under the leadership of the pioneer General Manager, Alhaji Kola Animashahun, the station commenced operations with a clear purpose and a strong sense of responsibility. The early years were characterized by diligence, teamwork, and a shared determination to establish a radio station distinguished by quality, credibility, and service to the people.

Over the past 24 years, Radio Nigeria Positive 102.5 FM has continued to blaze the trail in broadcasting, earning widespread respect for its consistency, professionalism, and relevance in an ever evolving media landscape. Its growth reflects not only institutional strength, but also the unwavering commitment of staff, past and present, who have upheld the station’s core values and mission.

The General Manager of Fresh FM Akure, Dokun Ladele, a former General Manager of Progress and Gold FM stations within the Radio Nigeria network and a retired Deputy Director of News at the Ibadan Zonal Station, congratulated the station on the milestone. He described the anniversary as an opportunity for reflection and encouraged staff to sustain the momentum for continued relevance in a rapidly changing media environment.

Also speaking, pioneer staffer Emmanuel Oriowo described the anniversary as a moment of pride and gratitude, celebrating not only the years gone by, but also the enduring legacy built through collective effort, sacrifice, and a shared belief in a common vision.

Mr. Oriowo reflected on how the station evolved in the last twenty four years, citing his contributions to the fifth and tenth anniversary of the station, where he played a pivotal role in securing sponsorship from one of the nation’s largest telecommunications network provider Airtel, then known as Celtel, for the fifth anniversary, which paraded star artistes in a carnival like outing, which featured the likes of Jufuji Makkossa music icon, King Dele Bravo and pioneer native rapper Lord of Ajasa, both of whom are now residents, in the United States of America.

The station, on such an occasion, will not forget the pioneering efforts of Late Mr. Remi Adedayo of blessed memory, Mr. Akin Akinniyi, Mr. Tafa, Mr. Ajayi, Mr. Kayode Joseph, Mr. Abolade Salami, Mr. Samuel Osayuwa (the first voice on it’s airwaves), Mr. Henry Akinsoyinu among others, former Zonal Director of Ibadan National Station, Mrs. Bolatito Joseph, some of the former General Managers like Prince Wale Adeboboye, Mr. Yinka Akintola, Pastor Abayomi Ayankoso, Mr. Olusola Adewale, Mr. Femi Oladipo, Mr. S.T Abiodun and the first female General Manager, Mrs. Olubunmi Olalere, Mr. Femi Fulani, now the current Zonal Director, Ibadan Zonal Station.

The occasion equally provides an opportunity to express profound appreciation to loyal listeners, customers, and supporters whose trust and encouragement have sustained the station over the years. Their continued patronage and engagement remain central to the station’s success story.

As it celebrates this milestone, Radio Nigeria Positive 102.5 FM, Akure, looks ahead with renewed commitment to greater achievements, sustained professionalism, and continuous advancement, as it remains dedicated to serving, uplifting, and uniting its audience through excellence in broadcasting.
