TRAGEDY HITS KANO ASSEMBLY AS TWO LAWMAKERS DIE SAME DAY

The Kano State House of Assembly has been thrown into deep mourning following the sudden deaths of two of its members, Hon. Aminu Ungoggo and Hon. Sarki Daneji, who reportedly died within hours of each other on Wednesday.

Hon. Aminu Ungoggo, who until his death served as the Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, reportedly collapsed and died at the Assembly complex after a brief illness.

His death was confirmed in a statement by the spokesperson to the Speaker of the House, Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai.

“The late Hon. Ungoggo died while in active duty at the Kano State House of Assembly. He is survived by his wife and children,” the statement said.

Just hours after Ungoggo’s passing, news of the death of Hon. Sarki Daneji, another member of the Assembly, broke, compounding the grief already being felt across the state’s political landscape.

While details of Daneji’s death remain sketchy as of the time of filing this report, sources within the Assembly confirmed that both deaths occurred within a short span, leaving colleagues, staff, and constituents in shock.

Flags at the Assembly complex have reportedly been lowered in honour of the departed lawmakers, and legislative activities have been suspended as a mark of respect.

Condolences have begun pouring in from across the country, with political leaders, colleagues, and citizens expressing shock at the tragic loss and praying for the repose of their souls.
