Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has raised the alarm over the killing of three farmers by gunmen in Igboho, his hometown in Orelope Local Government Area of Oyo State.
In a statement issued on Monday from Ibadan, Igboho called on President Bola Tinubu and the Federal Government to urgently address the growing insecurity threatening rural communities in Oyo and across the South-West.
According to the statement, the victims—Aderoju Mukaila, Olawuwo Saka, and Ojeniyi Ojebayo, were attacked while working on their farms. Though they were rushed to a nearby hospital, all three succumbed to their injuries despite medical efforts.
“This is a clear sign that our rural communities are under siege,” Igboho said, warning that if the situation is not addressed promptly, it could escalate into widespread violence and community unrest.
He described the incident as “one attack too many” and urged the security agencies to act swiftly in identifying and arresting the perpetrators.
Igboho also renewed his call for better protection of Yoruba land, noting that the continued killings and displacement of local farmers could lead to a food crisis if left unchecked.
