In what appears to be a heartwarming end of the year gesture, the Ondo State Governor is reportedly set to pay a 13th month salary to workers in the state civil service.

Though an official announcement is yet to be made, credible inside sources within the Governor’s Office have confirmed the plan, stating that it is a deliberate effort by the state government to appreciate the sacrifices, resilience, and dedication of public servants throughout the year.
A top ranking government official, who pleaded anonymity, disclosed that the 13th month salary is “already being processed” and would be paid before the end of December as a form of incentive and reward for productivity.
According to the source, “Mr Governor is keen on boosting the morale of workers, especially given their commitment to duty despite economic challenges. The 13th month is his way of saying thank you.”
The move, if officially confirmed, will make Ondo one of the few states in the country implementing such a worker friendly policy at a time many are struggling to meet regular salary obligations.
Workers across the state have expressed excitement and hope, with many saying this could be the best news they’ve received all year. Some have taken to social media praising the Governor for his consistency in salary payments and his growing reputation for staff welfare.
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ondo State Chapter, is also said to have been briefed informally about the development and is expected to issue a statement once the payment begins.
This would mark yet another milestone in the current administration’s efforts to improve worker welfare, following the recent recruitment into the civil service and continued urban renewal projects across the state.
While citizens await official confirmation, the atmosphere within the state’s public sector is already buzzing with hope and appreciation.
