The world of music is in mourning following the passing of Jimmy Cliff, legendary Jamaican reggae musician and actor, who died at the age of 81. His death was confirmed by his wife, Latifa Chambers, in an official post on his Instagram account.

“It is with profound sadness that I share that my husband, Jimmy Cliff, has crossed over due to a seizure followed by pneumonia,” the statement read.
Cliff, born James Chambers, was one of the most influential figures in global reggae music. His career spanned several decades, earning him numerous awards, including a Grammy. His timeless hits “Many Rivers to Cross,” “You Can Get It If You Really Want,” and “The Harder They Come” continue to inspire generations.
He also starred in the 1972 film “The Harder They Come”, which played a pivotal role in bringing reggae music to global audiences.
Fans, fellow musicians, and world leaders have begun pouring out tributes to the music icon whose voice, lyrics, and message became a symbol of resistance, hope, and cultural pride.
Plans for his memorial and celebration of life are expected to be announced by the family in the coming days.
