Edo Assembly Summons Natasha Osawaru, Wife of 2Baba, Over Alleged Misconduct.

The Edo State House of Assembly has officially summoned Hon. Natasha Osawaru Irobosa, lawmaker representing Egor Constituency and wife of Nigerian music icon, Innocent “2Baba” Idibia, over allegations of misconduct that may have brought the Assembly into disrepute.

The development was announced during plenary on Tuesday by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, who expressed concern over what he described as Natasha’s continued negative media presence in recent weeks.

Hon. Agbebaku stated that Natasha’s actions, which were not detailed at plenary, had compelled the Assembly to take disciplinary steps to safeguard its image and credibility.

As a result, she has been directed to appear before the House Standing Committee on Ethics and Privileges within one week to respond to the allegations and offer her defence. The Speaker also instructed the Committee to submit its findings to the full House within two weeks.

“The Honourable Member must appear before the Ethics and Privileges Committee to explain herself and show cause why disciplinary action should not be taken against her,” the Speaker said.

Though the Assembly did not directly refer to recent public controversies involving the lawmaker and her husband, social media and press coverage have been awash with videos and commentary surrounding her personal life, which may have influenced the House’s decision to act.

This move marks a rare instance of public disciplinary proceedings involving a sitting lawmaker, underscoring the Assembly’s stated commitment to maintaining the dignity and ethical standards of the legislative arm.
