BREAKING: President Tinubu Nominates Oyedele as Minister of State for Finance

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Mr. Taiwo Oyedele as the new Minister of State for Finance, replacing Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, who will now transition to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning as Minister of State.

This announcement was made in a press release issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, on March 3, 2026.

In his new role, Oyedele will be responsible for overseeing key financial policies and initiatives in Nigeria. Prior to this nomination, he served as the chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, where he played a pivotal role in overhauling the country’s tax system.
At 50 years old, Oyedele brings a wealth of experience to the position, having established himself as a respected economist, accountant, and public policy expert. He holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accountancy and Finance from Yaba College of Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University.

Oyedele’s credentials are further strengthened by executive education programmes completed at prestigious institutions, including the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and the Harvard Kennedy School.
With 22 years of experience at PwC, Oyedele rose to the position of Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader after joining the firm in 2001. Additionally, he serves as a professor at Babcock University in Ogun State and is a visiting scholar at the Lagos Business School.

President Tinubu’s nomination of Oyedele is expected to enhance the government’s financial management and fiscal policies, as the administration seeks to navigate Nigeria’s economic challenges.

The nomination has been forwarded to the Senate for confirmation, and its approval will be closely watched as the government continues to implement reforms in the financial sector.
