Black Monday as Seven Journalists Die in Autocrash

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and the Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers’ Union (RATTAWU) Gombe State branch have shared their deep sympathy over the death of seven of their members who lost their lives in a fatal motor accident along the Gombe–Yola Road

A statement jointly signed by the Chairman of NUJ in Gombe State, Faruk Muazu Gombe, and the Secretary, Shuaibu Umar, described the incident as tragic and heartbreaking, noting that the victims were committed professionals who contributed significantly to the journalism and broadcast industry in the state.

The unions extended their condolences to the families of the deceased, their colleagues, and members of NUJ and RATTAWU in Gombe State, while praying for the repose of the souls of the departed.

They also prayed for the speedy recovery of other members who sustained varying degrees of injuries in the accident.

According to the statement, funeral prayers (Janazah) for the Muslim members of the deceased, after consultation with their families, have been scheduled for Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at the Emir’s Palace in Gombe.

The unions called on members to remain united and resilient during the period of mourning.
