AKURE SOUTH APC CHAIRMAN CLEARS AIR ON ALLEGED DIVERSION OF PALLIATIVE FUNDS

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akure South Local Government, Hon. Fesobi Akinmolayan, has debunked rumours circulating over the disbursement of palliative funds reportedly sent by the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, to party members across the wards.

There had been widespread allegations that the Chairman received N5.5 million but only disbursed N400,000 per ward to the 11 wards in the local government, sparking outrage among party members and ward executives.

However, in a swift response on Saturday, Hon. Akinmolayan addressed the issue, stating categorically that he received only 5 million, not N5.5 million, from the party secretariat for the exercise.

According to him, “I did not receive N5.5 million as being peddled around. The amount sent to me was N5 million, and this can be verified from the party secretariat.”

When asked why he disbursed N400,000 per ward instead of N450,000 if the total sum was N5 million, Hon. Akinmolayan explained that the difference went into logistics, mobilization, and coordination efforts necessary for the smooth handling of the disbursement process.

“There were logistics involved in moving around and ensuring every ward got their share.

Those costs were unavoidable, and everything was done transparently. If anyone doubts it, they can verify directly from the source,” he said.

He urged party members to desist from spreading false information and emphasized the need to maintain unity and discipline within the ranks of the APC in Akure South.

Meanwhile, some ward executives have called on the state party leadership to carry out an internal review of the entire process to maintain transparency and rebuild trust.
