The controversy surrounding the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council escalated on Monday after the reported arrest of the father of Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, the central figure in the ongoing forgery and impersonation case linked to the disputed agency.

Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Femi Falana, disclosed that police operatives raided the family’s residence in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, where they allegedly arrested Adeyemi’s father and a family acquaintance who was said to be visiting at the time.
Falana criticised the action, describing the arrest as unlawful and insisting that security agencies have no legal authority to detain relatives of criminal suspects in place of the accused.
He maintained that Adeyemi had undertaken to appear before the court and questioned the rationale behind the arrest of his father.
Residents of the neighbourhood also claimed that the operatives arrived in multiple vehicles before taking the elderly man away, alleging that neighbours were prevented from intervening during the operation.
Another eyewitness said the visitor arrested alongside Adeyemi’s father had only come to see the family, adding that the suspect’s elderly mother was left distressed after the incident before she was later moved to a safer location.
The Nigeria Police Force had yet to issue an official statement on the reported arrests as of the time this report was filed, making it impossible to independently verify the claims.
Adeyemi is facing trial over allegations of forgery, impersonation and operating a purported government agency.
The case has remained in the spotlight following the controversy over the appearance of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council in the 2026 Appropriation Act despite repeated claims by the Presidency that the body was never established by the Federal Government.
