…Commends Governor’s Proactive Leadership in Protecting Lives, Empowering Youths and Safeguarding Communities

The APC Candidate for the Ondo State House of Assembly, Akoko South-West Constituency II, Hon. Niran Olanusi, has hailed Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for what he described as a visionary and proactive response to the growing security challenges confronting communities across Nigeria.
Reacting to the Governor’s announcement of plans to recruit 1,000 youths into the Ondo State Forest Guard, Olanusi said the initiative demonstrates purposeful leadership, strategic thinking, and a deep commitment to the protection of lives and property across the state.
According to him, while many leaders across the country continue to lament insecurity, Governor Aiyedatiwa is taking practical and decisive steps to strengthen the state’s security architecture by mobilizing local capacity and empowering young people to become active stakeholders in community safety.
“The decision to recruit 1,000 Forest Guards is not merely an employment initiative; it is a bold investment in the security, stability, and future of Ondo State. It reflects a Governor who understands that the first responsibility of government is the protection of its people,” Olanusi stated.
He noted that forests and rural corridors have increasingly become areas of concern across several parts of the country, making it imperative for sub-national governments to develop innovative mechanisms to complement federal security efforts.
“Governor Aiyedatiwa has once again demonstrated that leadership is about foresight. Rather than waiting for threats to escalate, he is taking preventive action. This is the hallmark of responsible governance and strategic leadership.”
The APC candidate further commended the Governor for ensuring that the initiative also creates meaningful opportunities for young people, describing the programme as a dual purpose intervention that addresses both security concerns and youth unemployment.
“At a time when many young Nigerians are searching for opportunities, this initiative opens a pathway for productive engagement while simultaneously strengthening our collective security. It is governance that combines compassion with responsibility.”
Olanusi also praised Governor Aiyedatiwa’s insistence on recruiting only responsible, disciplined and trustworthy individuals into the Forest Guard Corps, noting that security institutions must always be built on integrity, professionalism and community trust.
He described the Governor’s directive to youths to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities as a clear demonstration of his belief in community based security and citizen participation.
“The Governor’s message that ‘whenever you see something, say something’ reinforces the fact that security is everyone’s responsibility. Government alone cannot secure our communities without the cooperation and vigilance of the people.”
The House of Assembly hopeful equally applauded Governor Aiyedatiwa’s continued commitment to youth development, citing his pledge to appoint more young people into positions of responsibility, support the completion of the Ondo State Youth Policy Document, and provide resources that strengthen youth engagement in governance.
According to Olanusi, these actions underscore the Governor’s determination to build an inclusive administration that recognizes young people as partners in development rather than mere spectators.
“Governor Aiyedatiwa is steadily laying the foundation for a safer, stronger and more prosperous Ondo State. His administration has consistently demonstrated a willingness to invest in people, create opportunities and respond decisively to emerging challenges.”
He urged residents of the state to continue supporting the Governor’s administration, stressing that sustainable development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace, security and collective responsibility.
“As a proud member of the All Progressives Congress and a stakeholder in the future of our state, I commend His Excellency for this courageous and timely intervention. Ondo State is fortunate to have a Governor who understands the urgency of the times and is prepared to act in the best interest of the people.
“The recruitment of 1,000 Forest Guards is a powerful statement that under Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the security of our people will never be compromised. It is a reassuring message to every family, every community and every resident that their safety remains a top priority of government.”
Olanusi reaffirmed his commitment to supporting legislative initiatives and community driven policies that will further strengthen security, youth empowerment and sustainable development across Akoko South-West Constituency II and Ondo State as a whole.
