The quintuplets born in Akure earlier this year, whose mother died during childbirth, have been successfully discharged from the hospital after months of intensive medical care and support.

The development marks a significant milestone in a case that drew widespread public sympathy following the tragic death of the babies’ mother shortly after delivery.
The Executive Chairman of Akure South Local Government, Hon. Dr. Gbenga Fasua, had visited the family and the newborns at the hospital after receiving a distress call about their situation.
During the visit, he expressed condolences to the bereaved family and pledged support for the care and welfare of the five babies.
In fulfilment of that promise, Fasua subsequently provided relief materials, including food items and other essentials, to assist with the children’s upkeep during their stay in the hospital.
Speaking during the discharge ceremony, hospital management commended the intervention of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and Hon. Fasua, noting that their timely support contributed significantly to the survival and wellbeing of the newborns.
The Permanent Secretary in the Ondo State Ministry of Health, Dr. Ajiji, who represented the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Banji Ajaka, also praised the governor, hospital personnel and the Akure South chairman for their collective efforts in ensuring the successful care of the quintuplets.
He described the collaboration among government officials, healthcare workers and other stakeholders as a demonstration of compassionate and responsive leadership.
The family of the quintuplets expressed appreciation to Hon. Fasua for standing by them during a difficult period, describing his support as a source of hope following the loss of the children’s mother.
Addressing guests at the event, Fasua thanked God for preserving the lives of the babies and acknowledged the support of Governor Aiyedatiwa.

He also lauded the hospital management, led by the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Olagbuji, for the professionalism and dedication displayed throughout the children’s treatment.
While sympathising with the family over the loss of the mother, the council chairman congratulated them on the successful discharge of the babies and pledged continued support for their welfare and development.
The discharge of the quintuplets has been widely hailed as a testament to the impact of timely medical intervention, community support and compassionate leadership in safeguarding vulnerable lives.
