“BRING THEM HOME”: Davido Turns FIFA World Cup Concert Stage in LA Into Global Plea for 39 Oyo Students, 7 Teachers Abducted by Bandits

Afrobeats global icon Davido used the spotlight of the FIFA World Cup Countdown Concert in Los Angeles to demand justice for 39 schoolchildren and 7 teachers kidnapped in Oyo State, urging the world to keep the victims in focus.

The Grammy-nominated singer took the stage wearing a custom-made jacket with the names of the abducted victims boldly inscribed on it. Across the back, in large capital letters, was the message: “BRING THEM HOME”.

The victims were abducted recently by bandits from Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele, in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State. The attack has sparked outrage across Nigeria, with parents, education advocates and rights groups calling for immediate action.

While performing to a global audience at the FIFA event, Davido paused to highlight the crisis, turning a celebration of football into a platform for advocacy. Images and videos of the jacket quickly went viral, amplifying calls for the safe release of the students and teachers.

This is not the first time the DMW boss has used his influence for social causes. From #EndSARS to humanitarian outreach through his foundation, Davido has consistently leveraged his global reach to draw attention to issues affecting Nigerians at home.

As the FIFA World Cup draws closer, the singer’s message adds international pressure on security agencies and government authorities to secure the release of the captives and end the cycle of school abductions.
