Residents of Information Village, Adebowale, along Ondo Road, next to NTA Junction, have called for urgent security surveillance of the area following a kidnap attempt on Tuesday evening.

According to reports, one of the residents, Mr. Sunday Adejuyigbe, narrowly escaped from suspected kidnappers who tracked his vehicle from the Ondo-Akure Expressway to his house at Information Village around 8:00 pm.
His account stated that a group of about six armed men followed him from Adebowale Junction and caught up with him in front of his house. The gunmen were reportedly marching him away at gunpoint when an oncoming vehicle flashed its headlights, distracting the attackers and creating an opportunity for the victim to escape.
Speaking with Positive FM, Mr. Adejuyigbe described his escape as “miraculous.” He said the incident has left residents in fear that kidnappers may have infiltrated the Adebowale area.
The incident, which occurred on Tuesday night, May 19, 2026, has heightened anxiety among residents who say the area has become increasingly vulnerable to criminal activity. Community members are now urging security agencies to deploy immediate surveillance and patrols to restore safety along Ondo Road.
Residents say they will not wait for another attack before action is taken, calling on both the state and federal governments to prioritize the security of lives and property in the area.
