A NEW DAWN IN OKE-IGBO: OBA ADEGBITE II ASCENDS THE THRONE AS AKINSUROJU CALLS FOR UNITY, OPEN GOVERNANCE

Oke-Igbo Kingdom today Saturday, April 25, 2026, stands still in history and stepping boldly into the future, as His Royal Majesty, Oba (Barr.) Akintoye Adeoye Adegbite II, is officially crowned the Oluoke of Oke-Igbo, marking the dawn of a new era defined by hope, heritage, and renewed purpose.

Amid cultural splendour, rhythmic drums, and the gathering of sons and daughters of the land from far and near, the ancient town radiates pride, as it welcomes a new monarch many believes is an embodiment of wisdom, experience, and the unifying spirit needed for a progressive reign. The coronation is not merely a ceremonial ascension, but a symbolic rebirth of tradition and a rallying point for collective advancement.

Joining the chorus of goodwill, Hon. Nelson Akindolani Akinsuroju, Member representing Ile-Oluji/Oke-Igbo Constituency in the Ondo State House of Assembly, extended heartfelt congratulations to the Oluoke-in-Council and the entire Oke-Igbo community, describing the moment as historic and deeply significant.

In an exclusive interview, the lawmaker, who also serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Nutrition and Food Security, paid glowing tributes to the new monarch, characterizing him as “a loving father with vast experience in community development.”

“We are fortunate to have Kabiyesi,” Akinsuroju stated. “He is a man of wisdom and depth, one who understands the needs of the people and has consistently shown a fatherly disposition to all and sundry. His reign, by God’s grace, will usher in unity, peace, and unprecedented development.”

A Charge to the Throne: Unity and Open Leadership.

While celebrating the monarch’s emergence, Hon. Akinsuroju offered a thoughtful charge, urging Oba Adegbite II, to prioritize unity and accessibility in his leadership.

“I will like to advise our Monarch to unite Oke-Igbo Community. He should run an open door policy and embrace everyone as his children,” he said, emphasizing the importance of inclusiveness in navigating the kingdom toward greater heights.

He further offered prayers for a prosperous reign, invoking divine guidance for the king: “May Kabiyesi live long on the throne of his forefathers. I pray for wisdom and knowledge for him to paddle the canoe of our beloved Oke-Igbo to the promised land.”

Redefining Representation: Akinsuroju’s Scorecard.

Beyond the coronation, the lawmaker reflected on his journey since assuming office in 2023, outlining his commitment to redefining legislative impact in his constituency.

According to him, his administration has prioritized empowerment and opportunity creation, facilitating employment for several indigenes across key institutions including the Ondo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Ondo State Internal Revenue Service (ODIRS), the judiciary, Nigerian Immigration Service, and the Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji.

“In addition, for the first time in our constituency’s history, I facilitated the construction of five lock-up shops in Oke-Igbo to support small businesses,” he revealed. “We have also consistently provided free JAMB registration and scholarships for indigenous students over the past three years.”

These interventions, he noted, are part of a broader vision to set new standards for governance and inspire future leaders.

Message to the Youth: The Path to Success.

Speaking directly to young people, Hon. Akinsuroju distilled his philosophy of success into three guiding principles: “Focus, hard work, and prayers. These are the pillars that sustain achievement in life.”

Reflecting on his personal journey, he described his victory in the 2023 House of Assembly election as a defining and unforgettable milestone, reinforcing his resolve to serve with integrity and purpose.

A Kingdom Poised for Greatness.

As the sun set on a day etched in the annals of Oke-Igbo’s history, a resounding sense of optimism filled the air. The coronation of Oba Akintoye Adeoye Adegbite II is widely seen as a bridge between the kingdom’s rich cultural legacy and its aspirations for modern relevance and global recognition.

With prayers on the lips of the people and hope in their hearts, the message was clear and unified:

“Igba yin a tu wa lara o. Amin. Ki ade pe lori, ki bata pe lese, ki irukere pe lowo. Kabiyesi o!”

Long live the King. Long live Oke-Igbo Kingdom.
