The Ondo State Police Command has successfully arrested two suspects and recovered a stolen Toyota Camry in Akure.

In a statement released on Tuesday and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, the Command detailed that this breakthrough followed an investigation into a case of conspiracy, theft, and the receiving of stolen property.
The case was initially reported on February 27, 2026, by a complainant named Adeyemi Robert. He stated that on February 14, 2026, he attended a social event on Sijuade Street, Akure, where he parked his Toyota Camry saloon car, bearing registration number AH173WWD, in front of the venue. Upon returning from the event, he discovered that his vehicle had been stolen by unknown individuals.
The Command indicated that detectives swiftly commenced an investigation into the matter, employing intelligence gathering and other investigative strategies to recover the stolen vehicle and apprehend those responsible. “Through diligent investigative efforts, police operatives successfully traced the stolen vehicle to one Awolo Akingbade, a 40 year old male, who was found in possession of the car. He was immediately invited for questioning,” the statement explained.
Further investigation revealed that the vehicle had been sold to Akingbade by the principal suspect, identified as Adeyemi David, who was subsequently arrested. Preliminary findings indicated that David allegedly stole the vehicle and disposed of it by selling it to Akingbade.
The police confirmed that the stolen Toyota Camry has been recovered and brought to the station as evidence, while both suspects have provided useful information to aid in the investigation.
“The suspects have been charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation,” the statement added.
The Commissioner of Police for Ondo State Command, CP Adebowale Lawal, commended the operatives for their diligence and professionalism, which led to the recovery of the vehicle and the arrest of the suspects.
He reiterated the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state and warned individuals involved in criminal activities to desist.
The Command also encouraged members of the public to remain vigilant and provide “timely, credible, and actionable information” to assist in preventing and combating crime in the state.
