OBI CUBANA EVICTED FROM ABUJA LOUNGE AFTER COURT RULING, FACES N800m LOSS.

Popular nightlife entrepreneur and billionaire businessman, Obinna Iyiegbu, widely known as Obi Cubana, has been evicted from a prime Abuja property following the enforcement of a court judgment.

The dramatic eviction took place on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at Plot 81, Ademola Adetokunbo Crescent, Wuse II — the former site of the iconic Cubana Lounge. Court sheriffs, acting on a ruling by the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Gwagwalada, handed over the property to businessman Collins Onwuzulike of SEMC Investment Ltd.

In a now-viral video, workers were seen removing furniture, electronics, and other luxury items from the premises, as some decorations were dismantled, marking the end of Cubana’s hold on the location.

The legal battle over the property began in July 2025, when Justice J.A. Aina ruled that Onwuzulike was the rightful owner, having purchased it for ₦2 billion from Reverend Chidiebere Amakaeze. The transaction was backed by a Power of Attorney and a Deed of Assignment effective from May 1, 2024.

Despite completing the legal process, Onwuzulike was initially denied possession, with a separate group securing a temporary injunction from the FCT High Court in Bwari. That order has now expired, clearing the path for Tuesday’s forceful takeover.

The building’s keys were officially handed to Onwuzulike’s legal team after the eviction, signaling full transfer of ownership.

Sources close to the matter estimate that Obi Cubana may have lost over ₦800 million due to the closure and potential demolition of the structure, though no official statement has been issued by the nightlife mogul.

The development marks a significant setback for Obi Cubana, whose brand is associated with luxury entertainment and hospitality across Nigeria.
